NeuralScreen Brings DLSS 5 to Live-Action Movies and Pre-Recorded Game Footage
Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology has been making waves in the gaming community since its leaked DLL file allowed modders to apply it to various PC games. However, one app takes this a step further by applying DLSS 5 to almost anything, including live-action movies and pre-recorded game footage.
Developed by Perseval_BLR with help from Claude, NeuralScreen overlays Nvidia's neural rendering technology onto any app running in windowed mode. Although designed for PC games, it can technically run on top of almost anything.
In a demonstration, Perseval applied NeuralScreen to a YouTube clip of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and even used it on a scene from the film Interstellar, showing that DLSS 5 cannot distinguish between video game graphics and real footage. The app also allows users to select visual presets and adjust sliders to control output.
However, DLSS 5 carries a substantial performance cost, as seen in Perseval's demo where an RTX 5070 Ti struggled to maintain 60 fps even when applying the filter to Doom 3 at 2,576 × 1,487 resolution. Modders have also discovered novel methods for reducing the filter's performance cost.
