New Jersey Reaches $2.5B Settlements with DuPont, 3M Over PFAS Pollution
A federal judge in New Jersey has approved settlements totaling $2.5B reached by the state with DuPont (DD), 3M (MMM), Chemours (CC), and Corteva (CTVA) to resolve claims over pollution attributed to PFAS, or 'forever chemicals.'
The settlements were reached after years of litigation and are intended to address contamination caused by the companies' manufacturing processes.
PFAS, a group of synthetic chemicals used in products such as non-stick cookware and firefighting foam, have been linked to various health problems, including cancer and reproductive issues.
