New Lightsaber Customizations and Effects Debut at Savi's Workshop
Disney's Hollywood Studios has introduced new enhancements to Savi's Workshop at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, offering guests fresh customization options for building their own lightsabers. The latest update includes a new hilt theme called Protection and Defense, featuring white and gold finishes with Jedi iconography from the High Republic era. Alongside this, the workshop now offers upgraded effects for all lightsabers, including thermal cutting, spinning, and deflection effects, as well as improved audio and smoother blade activation.
The experience begins in Black Spire Outpost, where the Gatherers guide visitors through creating a personalized lightsaber using salvaged parts. Guests can choose from four hilt themes, Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, and the new Protection and Defense. Each theme comes with a cloisonné pin and a selection of kyber crystal colors, such as blue, green, violet, and red, each tied to iconic Star Wars characters.
After selecting a theme and kyber crystal, guests assemble their lightsaber by choosing from a variety of parts, including hilt, sleeves, emitters, pommel caps, and activation plates. The finished lightsaber is then completed with a 31-inch blade. Additional customization options are available at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, and guests can also opt for a cracked kyber crystal to enable a color-change effect between light and dark sides of the Force.
The experience is priced at $274.99 per lightsaber, plus tax, and advance reservations are recommended. Each builder must be at least 5 years old, and at least one person in the party must be 14 or older. The lightsabers are nonrefundable and not eligible for discounts. The workshop is located at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida, and similar experiences are available at Disneyland.
