NEWDERY Power Banks Recalled Over Fire Hazard Concerns
A recall has been issued for over 20,000 NEWDERY power banks sold on Amazon due to potential fire hazards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of the lithium-ion batteries in these power banks, which can explode or ignite.
According to the CPSC, there have been nine reports of the power banks exploding and igniting, including one incident that resulted in $2 million in property damage and a burn injury. The affected product has model number ZHX-PB22 and is identifiable by its black color with yellow cables and the name 'NEWDERY' on the front.
Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and contact NEWDERY for instructions on how to receive a full refund. To obtain a refund, consumers will need to submit a photo of their power bank showing the model number, serial number, and the word 'recalled' written on the bank.
The affected power banks were sold on Amazon from October 2023 to November 2024.
