Nike Meets Expectations Amid Revenue Decline
Nike reported its Q1 earnings for fiscal year 2027, meeting expectations despite a decline in revenue. The company's performance portfolio saw growth at a high single-digit rate, driven by sports categories such as running and global football.
However, Nike's Sportswear business declined at a low double-digit rate due to deliberate reductions in Dunk product and underperformance in some higher-volume footwear. Jordan Brand revenue also fell at a mid-teens rate, prompting the company to reduce retro releases and focus on full-price realization.
The company is addressing these challenges through its Pace productivity initiative, which aims to generate $2.5 billion in savings over several years. Nike expects to maintain its dividend and return capital to shareholders while reducing its overall number of roles.
