Nike Stock Falls Amid Disappointing Report from Dick's Sporting Goods

Nike founder Phil Knight's net worth dropped to $25.3 billion in 2026, but that's not the focus here.

A recent stock decline in Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE) shares is a concern for investors after a disappointing second-quarter report from Dick's Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS), which owns Foot Locker.

The retailer reported a $31.9 million segment loss for the quarter, reversing its previous guidance of annual profits between $110 million to $150 million for the unit.

Dick's Core Business, however, demonstrated resilience with comparable sales rising 4.9% during the same quarter, indicating that the weakness is specific to Foot Locker and not indicative of wider consumer distress across all sporting goods.
