NKE, OPEN, MCD Stocks Plummet to 52-Week Lows Amid Competition and Slowing Growth
Nike (NKE), Opendoor Technologies (OPEN), and McDonald's Corp. (MCD) stocks all hit their lowest levels in a year last week, with various factors contributing to the decline.
Nike's stock fell more than 2% on Friday after French soccer superstar Kylian Mbappe announced he would be representing On Holding instead of Nike. This move was seen as a direct challenge to Nike and Adidas (ADDYY) in the soccer market, which they have traditionally dominated.
Opendoor Technologies saw its stock slip to a 52-week low amid ongoing housing market issues. The company has been struggling with delayed turnaround plans and a tight housing market, pushing back its profitability timeline by six to eight weeks. Despite this, Alliance Global analyst Gaurav Mehta maintained a 'Buy' rating on the shares.
McDonald's Corp. also saw its stock decline, falling 0.1% at close last week due to slowing U.S. growth and growing competition. The company is reevaluating its value strategy after posting its slowest U.S. growth in over a year, with plans to work with franchisees on a 'longer-term' approach aimed at value-conscious customers.
