Nokia Bolsters Spanish Network Security with DDoS Protection Expansion

Nokia has strengthened its network security business in Spain by deploying its Deepfield Defender solution across Madrid and Barcelona platforms. This expansion is part of a partnership with ESpanix, the country's largest Internet exchange point.

The initiative expands Nokia's DDoS protection technology to over 200 national and international networks connected to ESpanix. The company's solution combines AI-powered network analytics with its Deepfield Secure Genome security intelligence to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks within seconds.

Nokia's technology provides automated, network-based protection that removes malicious traffic while allowing legitimate data to continue flowing, helping networks respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. This deployment supports data-sovereignty objectives by keeping Spanish Internet traffic and security operations within the country.

The latest deployment demonstrates the scalability of Nokia's Deepfield portfolio across multiple networks through a single Internet exchange platform. However, Nokia faces stiff competition from Ericsson and Cisco Systems, which are also advancing in the network security domain with their own solutions.
