Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co., a prominent institutional investor, has significantly increased its stake in Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). In the second quarter, the company purchased approximately 3.66 million shares of Amazon stock for about $873.4 million. This new position makes up about 0.5% of Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Co.'s holdings, making it their 27th largest holding.
Amazon's e-commerce business has been performing well, with revenue increasing by 19.6% year-over-year to reach $200.61 billion in the last quarter. The company's earnings per share (EPS) topped analysts' estimates at $5.75, beating expectations of $1.82. Amazon's AI-powered infrastructure spending is expected to translate into future sales, despite near-term cash-flow pressure.
Other institutional investors have also made significant changes to their positions in Amazon stock during the second quarter, with Academy Capital Management purchasing a new position valued at approximately $58.7 million and CFO4Life Group acquiring a new stake worth about $14.1 million. These investments demonstrate confidence in Amazon's growth prospects.
