NTSB Reveals Go-Around Attempt in Amazon Prime Air Crash
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released new details about the Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 accident at Miami International Airport on Sunday. According to the NTSB, the pilots applied thrust for a go-around before aborting the maneuver and failed to deploy thrust reversers or speed brakes.
At 30 seconds before the end of the recording, the nose landing gear and right main landing gear touched down at a ground speed of 158 knots. However, the left main landing gear did not touch the runway until 19 seconds before the end of the recording, a full 11 seconds after the aircraft first touched the runway.
The pilots then increased engine power as if starting a go-around, but reduced it to idle and reapplied wheel brakes when the aircraft was at 117 knots. The NTSB says this indicates that the pilots were attempting to abort the go-around.
