Nurse Reflects on Toronto Tempo's Inaugural Season
Kia Nurse reflected on her first season playing for the Toronto Tempo in the WNBA. The team, which was one of two expansion teams to join the league this year, finished with a record of 11-33 and missed the playoffs.
Nurse, who played four games as a starter, averaged career-lows in points (5.5), rebounds (1.2), assists (1.0) and minutes (14.3) per game. However, she took on a leadership role for the team and was vocal about addressing issues during the season.
The Tempo's inaugural season was marked by a significant following in Canada, with 15 sold-out home games at Coca-Cola Coliseum. The team also drew a WNBA regular-season record 20,996 people to their game at the Bell Centre in Montreal in July.
