Nvidia AI Server Prices to Spike 15% Due to Memory Shortage
Nvidia's AI server prices are set to increase by about 15 percent due to an ongoing memory shortage, according to Bloomberg. The main driver of this price hike is rising DRAM costs from major manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. This increase will affect shipments as early as next year.
Contract manufacturers building servers for Microsoft, Google, and Oracle have already notified their customers about the price changes. Nvidia's AI chips, such as Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell, are affected by this memory shortage.
The price increases will particularly impact cloud giants Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Meta, as well as AI labs OpenAI and Anthropic. These companies are developing their own chips but still rely on Nvidia for some of their needs.
