NVIDIA and Broadcom Lead Semiconductor Sector Among Active Fund Managers
Bank of America has released data showing the semiconductor industry's high relative weight among active fund managers in the US. According to the bank's equity strategy data for August, the semiconductor sector had a relative weight of 1.15x, surpassing the software and information technology industries.
NVIDIA (NVDA.US) and Broadcom (AVGO.US) hold the widest positions in the semiconductor sector among active fund managers, while Micron Technology (MU.US) and AMD (AMD.US) have seen significant additions to their holdings. In contrast, Skyworks Solutions (SWKS.US) is the least-held chip stock among funds, with a holding ratio of only 3%.
The data also reveals that fund managers have concentrated their holdings in the computing, storage, and semiconductor equipment sectors, with holding ratios reaching 74%, 43%, and 40%, respectively. The storage sector saw the largest increase in holdings, rising by 612 basis points from July, while the semiconductor equipment sector rose by 324 basis points.
