Nvidia App Fails to Deliver on Promises of Simplified GPU Management

Nvidia's unified GPU control center, the Nvidia App, has been plagued by performance issues since its launch in 2024. The app was designed to replace the Nvidia Control Panel and GeForce Experience, but it has faced criticism for being bloated and missing key features.

One of the major problems with the Nvidia App is its performance overhead. At launch, it caused frame rates to decrease by as much as 15%, although toggling off certain filters resolved the issue. Additionally, the app's host process, 'nvcontainer.exe', has been known to cause memory leaks.

The Nvidia App has also been missing several key features that were present in the older apps. For example, it lacked multi-monitor support and fine-tuning resizable BAR support on a per-game basis. However, in recent releases, Nvidia has added these features back into the app.

Another issue with the Nvidia App is its bloatware nature. Installing the app means installing a collection of software functions that can't be opted out of, leading some users to seek out community-made tools to avoid perceived bloat.
