Nvidia-Backed Data Center Puts Armenia in Spotlight as Regional AI Hub

Nvidia's partnership with Armenia has put the country in the spotlight as a potential regional hub for artificial intelligence development.

The launch of a major data center in Hrazdan, which opened last month, is expected to become one of the largest computing clusters in Europe and the region's largest.

With a projected capacity of 300 megawatts by the end of 2027, the data center will feature more than 70,000 advanced Nvidia AI chips, with around 20% reserved for domestic use, including research, government projects, and Firebird's ecosystem.

Nvidia expanded its presence in Armenia from 2022, when engineers were relocated from its Moscow office to Yerevan, following Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to the company's headquarters in Santa Clara in 2019.
