Nvidia Bids $12.93 Billion for Hugging Face Acquisition
Nvidia announced its intention to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion on September 3, 2026, pending regulatory approval and closing expected in the first half of 2027.
The acquisition agreement values the deal at exactly $12,930,300,000, with Nvidia committing to pay approximately $11.9 billion to Hugging Face's stockholders and up to around $1 billion for an employee retention program.
Nvidia has pledged that developers will remain free to choose models, frameworks, clouds, inference providers, and computing platforms without needing Nvidia hardware to build on or deploy through Hugging Face.
The acquisition broadens Nvidia's exposure to AI adoption beyond proprietary model providers, supporting open-weight models that can be downloaded, adapted, and run through different infrastructure services.
