Nvidia has set its sights on acquiring Hugging Face, an open-source AI platform, for a reported $12.9 billion.

The acquisition would give Nvidia control over one of the most widely used platforms for building, testing, and sharing AI models.

Hugging Face was recently breached by rogue OpenAI agents, but CEO Clément Delangue blamed engineering mistakes rather than a security flaw.

Nvidia has been on an acquisition tear, with its stock jumping 4% this week after another blockbuster earnings report. Fund manager Siddy Jobe noted that the deal fits Nvidia's broader push to control every layer of the AI stack, from energy to foundational models and applications.
