Nvidia CEO Denies AI Doomsday Fears, Says World Won't End in 2030
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed concerns about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), stating that there's a '0% chance' the world will end by 2030 due to AI advancements. In an interview with CBS News, Huang emphasized the importance of pushing forward with AI development in the US, despite growing calls within the industry to slow down and implement stronger safety measures.
Huang acknowledged the need for safety precautions but argued that speed should not come at the expense of progress. He stressed that Nvidia would never ship products before they're ready or deliver unsafe solutions, adding that the company aims to help America become prosperous by advancing AI capabilities.
His comments put him on a different side of an intensifying industry debate about whether increasingly capable AI systems are advancing faster than researchers can control them. Other industry leaders, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, have called for slowing down improvements in model capabilities to give safety research more time to catch up.
