Nvidia CEO Rejects Doomsday Predictions on AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has pushed back against doomsday predictions that artificial intelligence (AI) will contribute to human extinction by 2030. Speaking on CBS News, Huang stated 'There is 0% chance that [2030] is going to be the end of the world.' He added, 'Scaring people is unnecessary. It is irresponsible.'

Huang's comments come as a response to warnings from some experts, including former OpenAI and Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, who have raised concerns about the potential risks of AI. Huang disagreed with these predictions, saying they are 'not grounded in science.'

The Nvidia CEO emphasized that companies like his own have a vested interest in ensuring the safe deployment of products and services, as this is directly connected to their value.

Huang also argued that existing legal frameworks for liability around cybersecurity and damages caused by businesses should be the primary guardrails for the industry. He suggested applying these frameworks first, rather than introducing new regulations.
