Nvidia Cuts OpenAI Data Center Guarantee by Over 50%
Nvidia has reduced its proposed financial support for OpenAI's massive data center project in Ohio. The company will now provide less than $120 billion in guarantees, down from the previously discussed $250 billion.
The revised figure was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. The original plan involved a 10-gigawatt data center in southern Ohio to support OpenAI's growing computing needs.
Nvidia had been discussing financing OpenAI's chip purchases worth as much as $350 billion, and providing guarantees for the project's lease and debt financing. The reduced guarantee highlights the evolving financial arrangements behind the massive capital requirements of the AI boom.
