Nvidia Denies Involvement in China's 6G Development Amid Global Standard Push
Nvidia is facing controversy over its involvement in China's 6G development. Reports emerged of a technical team from Nvidia visiting Shenzhen Jiaxian Communications in March 2026 to discuss AI radio access network technology.
Jensen Huang's company denied the reports, calling them 'completely baseless' and stating that their description of activities in the region was also inaccurate.
The controversy comes as the US is pushing for a unified global standard for 6G networks. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) has issued a call to action seeking partner nations to align on standards, and granted $53 billion for AI-RAN technologies.
China's advancements in 6G have put it ahead of the US, with the launch of a pre-6G test network in Nanjing and approval of the 6 GHz band for large-scale field trials and technical standardization.
