Nvidia Denies Warranty Claim Over Faded Serial Number on $2,000 Graphics Card
An Nvidia RTX 5090 graphics card owner was denied warranty service after experiencing black screen crashes and throttling under heavy load.
The customer, Willing-Avocado-4830, purchased the $2,000 GPU on September 10th, 2025, but it developed issues within a short period of time.
Nvidia's chatbot initially told the customer that packaging and receipt would be enough to make a claim if the serial number was unreadable, but the company ultimately denied the warranty request due to this very reason.
The issue has raised concerns among Nvidia customers, as the serial number is printed on a sticker rather than etched into the metal, making it prone to fading and becoming illegible over time.
