Nvidia DGX Spark 64GB Launched at $4,999 Amid Memory Price Surge
Nvidia has launched a new 64GB configuration of its DGX Spark desktop AI supercomputer, priced at $4,999. This move comes as memory prices surge due to relentless demand from data center AI buildouts.
The 64GB DGX Spark is built on Nvidia's GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which pairs a Blackwell-generation GPU with a 20-core Arm CPU complex co-designed with MediaTek. The system shares the same memory bandwidth as its 128GB counterpart, despite having half the storage capacity.
Nvidia has positioned the DGX Spark as a way for developers and researchers to prototype and fine-tune AI models locally before moving workloads to a data center or cloud GPU cluster. The 64GB configuration is intended to run AI models with up to approximately 100 billion parameters locally, depending on quantization, precision, and the specific software stack in use.
The launch of the 64GB DGX Spark is seen as a response to the sharp increase in memory costs, driven by AI data center demand competing for advanced memory supply. This move highlights the impact of the DRAM squeeze on finished-product pricing and the need for companies like Nvidia to adjust their product tiers accordingly.
