Nvidia DLSS Now Works on GeForce RTX 20 GPUs Thanks to Mod

A modder has successfully enabled Nvidia's DLSS frame generation feature on GeForce RTX 20 Series GPUs, which were previously not officially supported by the company. The mod uses Nvidia's official software to execute directly on the older Turing architecture-based GPUs.

This new implementation tricks the system into thinking an RTX 20 card is a modern Ada Lovelace (RTX 40) GPU, unlocking the option inside game menus. However, it still needs optimisation and has bugs, with some users reporting lower performance than with FSR frame generation.

The modder used the same technology as the one that enables DLSS on RTX 30 GPUs but tweaked it to work on the older architecture. It removes software constraints inside the nvngx_dlssg.dll file to overcome artificial restrictions locking DLSS frame generation to newer architectures.
