Nvidia Driver Notes Still Include Outdated 3D Vision Instructions
Nvidia's latest GeForce Game Ready driver, version 617.14, includes release notes that still contain instructions for 3D Vision, a feature that hasn't been actively supported since April 2019. The notes, dated September 22, 2026, repeat the same wording from the 2019 driver notes, explaining how to switch between 3D Vision rendering modes using a keyboard shortcut. The instructions remain identical, down to the step-by-step process for configuring the feature in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
The 2019 driver notes also included updates for 3D Vision profiles, such as Anno 1800, Devil May Cry 5, and Total War: Three Kingdoms, all marked as 'Not recommended.' Additionally, it mentioned a known issue with the 3D Vision USB driver. However, the 2026 driver notes have removed all these details, leaving only the usage instructions for 3D Vision.
Other sections of the driver notes have also been trimmed. The known-issues list no longer includes a GeForce bug that was carried through seven previous drivers. The driver download menu has not been updated either, still listing 3D Vision alongside other product types like GeForce, Legacy, and professional lines. The downloads under 3D Vision include drivers for GeForce, Notebook, Quadro, and a 3D Vision Video Player.
The only remaining VR-related content in the 2026 driver notes is a limitation regarding Crescent Bay and OSVR headsets on systems with multiple GPUs. This limitation has been present since 2019, with only a slight change in wording from 'will not work' to 'do not work.' The notes still advise disabling Intel integrated graphics from the system BIOS to use VRWorks Direct Mode.
