Nvidia Drops $26 Billion on Share Buybacks and Dividends

Nvidia spent an astonishing $26 billion on share repurchases and dividends in its fiscal second quarter, exceeding its free cash flow for the period.

This marks a significant increase from the company's previous quarterly returns, which totaled around $10 billion in 2026. The first half of this year alone has seen Nvidia return over $45 billion to shareholders, more than it did in all of fiscal 2026.

Nvidia's chief financial officer Colette Kress stated that the company plans to return 50% or more of its free cash flow to shareholders, and so far this year they have returned 60%. The dividend increase from $0.01 per share to $0.25 per share in May suggests management expects free cash flow to remain comfortably above dividend payments for years to come.

Nvidia's board seems confident that the earnings funding these returns will hold up at least three more years, given the company's significant growth and revenue increase of 106% year over year to $96.2 billion in the quarter.
