Nvidia has announced that its DLSS 5 technology will be available on RTX 4000 GPUs, in addition to the initially announced RTX 5000 series. This means that owners of older Nvidia graphics cards can now access the photorealistic effects provided by DLSS 5 without needing any modifications.

The announcement was made in a forum post, where Nvidia stated that it has achieved a 5X performance gain since the initial announcement of DLSS 5 in March. However, no timeline was given for when DLSS 5 will be available on RTX 4000 GPUs.

Nvidia also mentioned that teams are working to integrate DLSS 5 into other games, but only NBA 2K27 currently supports the technology. The AI-driven feature can lead to a significant drop in frame rates, with Nvidia's own testing showing a 50-60% hit on frame rates when running on an RTX 5090 card.
