NVIDIA Firmware Update Hints at Coming Windows Support for DGX Spark

NVIDIA's September 3 post focused on its local AI story, highlighting various Windows-centric updates. However, something unexpected happened when we applied a recent firmware update to our DGX Spark cluster: the fwupd device list picked up an entry for 'Windows UEFI CA.'

This certificate is used by a machine's firmware to trust a Windows boot loader, and its presence in the firmware suggests that native Windows support may be on the horizon for DGX Spark. The update also brought other components, including the Embedded Controller, TPM, and UEFI Device Firmware, up to date.

NVIDIA has not announced any plans to bring Windows to DGX Spark, but the company's RTX Spark PCs are set to launch in October with a Windows stack that NVIDIA and Microsoft have been building together. These PCs will feature up to 6,144-core Blackwell RTX GPUs, 20-core Grace CPUs, and up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5X memory.
