Nvidia is reportedly in talks to invest up to $3 billion in SB Energy, an energy and infrastructure company backed by SoftBank Group. This investment would be part of a broader financing package worth approximately $100 billion for OpenAI's massive data center project in Ohio.

The proposed $3 billion equity investment could involve Nvidia investing half of the amount when the Ohio data center agreement is signed, with the remaining $1.5 billion potentially invested as part of SB Energy's planned initial public offering (IPO) in September 2026.

SB Energy is targeting an IPO that could raise at least $5 billion through the offering. The company develops large-scale energy and data center infrastructure and is also backed by OpenAI, which requires increasingly powerful AI models to process vast amounts of computing capacity.
