Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion in MediaTek's convertible bonds, a move that widens its financial ties across the AI industry.

The deal follows Nvidia's up to $105 billion guarantee for OpenAI's Ohio data-center lease and could intensify scrutiny of arrangements where the chipmaker funds companies that help drive demand for its AI products.

Nvidia and MediaTek will keep working together on chips for personal computers and technology for AI-powered vehicles, while also using Nvidia's NVLink Fusion technology to design custom AI chips.
