Nvidia Partners with Einride on Driverless Trucks
Nvidia, the AI chipmaker, has secured a deal to supply computing platforms and AI tools for Einride's driverless trucks. The news pushed Nvidia shares lower to $224.80 by roughly 10:50 a.m. ET on Friday.
Einride plans to meet demand for 1,500 to 2,000 vehicles by 2028, with about 80% of that potential market suitable for automation. The company already operates hundreds of electric trucks, and has partnered with Lidl to put a cabless Level 4 truck into regular service on public roads in Germany.
The partnership is significant for Nvidia as it gains access to physical AI technology, but the financial implications are unclear at this point. Einride's vehicle forecast does not directly translate to Nvidia sales, and neither company has disclosed how much Nvidia technology each truck will carry or when the partnership might generate meaningful revenue.
