Nvidia Partners with Wall Street Firms to Raise $500 Billion for AI Data Centers
Nvidia is partnering with six major Wall Street firms to raise over $500 billion in funding for AI data center infrastructure, according to its CEO Jensen Huang. The agreements are memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between Nvidia and Apollo Global Management, BlackRock, Blackstone, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs, and KKR.
The compute financing platforms will pool capital to lend to Nvidia customers building AI data centers with its advanced graphics processing units (GPUs). The funding is meant to cover the chips themselves along with servers, networking gear, buildings, and power.
Nvidia has an option to guarantee up to 25% of any deals, helping customers receive a better rate. Huang claims that GPUs have become 'revenue-generating assets' and can be financed like toll roads or power plants due to their productivity, longevity, and flexibility.
However, analysts question whether this signals strength or strain in AI demand as hyperscalers turn to debt markets to fund their spending. The $500 billion target is in line with industry estimates, but Nvidia controls 85% of the market for AI GPUs, making it a significant player in the build-out.
