Nvidia Pledges Up to $105 Billion for OpenAI Data Center
Nvidia has agreed to provide up to $105 billion in guarantees to support OpenAI's lease of a large data center in Pike County, Ohio. The facility is being developed by SB Energy, which is owned by SoftBank.
The partnership aims to reshape how AI infrastructure gets built, financed, and powered as demand for computing capacity continues to accelerate. Nvidia plans to invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy, while OpenAI and SoftBank have previously committed $1 billion to developing the company's data centers.
Nvidia believes it could generate up to $600 billion in revenue from OpenAI by 2030 if it supplies the company with 16 gigawatts of computing capacity. The complex's initial capacity will be 4.25 gigawatts, and the project itself could potentially generate up to $200 billion in revenue for Nvidia.
The financing structure is expected to include equity and debt financing. Some of the funds may be raised through a potential initial public offering by SB Energy and direct investments from SoftBank.
