Nvidia Powers Japan's AI Manufacturing Push with $6.1 Billion Government Backing
Nvidia has partnered with Japan's biggest manufacturers to power AI in the country. This deal is part of the Japanese government's drive to maintain its lead in advanced manufacturing techniques and remain relevant in the age of AI.
The partnership, called Noetra, is a 44-company consortium that will bring AI onto the factory floor using Nvidia's advanced GPU clusters. The Japanese government has provided $6.1 billion in subsidies for AI across manufacturing and industrial use cases, with Nvidia chosen as the compute backbone for the investment.
Nvidia's revenue from AI cloud and industrial use cases last quarter alone was $37.4 billion, excluding traditional hyperscaler cloud computing business. This is up from $21.5 billion in revenue from the same quarter a year prior.
