Nvidia has quietly removed the RTX 5080 graphics card from its online store, sparking concerns that the product may have been discontinued. The removal was first noticed early Friday morning by a Reddit user, who found that the RTX 5070 Ti had replaced the RTX 5080 as the top-tier option in the RTX 5000 series. The move raises questions about availability in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, where local stock and pricing remain unconfirmed.
The RTX 5080's disappearance follows the earlier removal of the more powerful RTX 5090 from Nvidia's store this month. While Nvidia claims the RTX 5090 hasn't been discontinued, it has become scarce at retailers, with prices soaring to over $5,000 for Asus models and around $10,000 from third-party dealers.
The RTX 5080's launch price was $999, but current prices for various models now exceed $2,000. Despite its removal from Nvidia's store, the GPU remains in stock at retailers like Best Buy and Walmart, though availability is uncertain. Nvidia has yet to comment on the situation, but rumors suggest a new version of the RTX 5080 with 24GB of memory could launch in January, following a December introduction. However, pricing is expected to remain high due to an ongoing memory shortage, which SK Hynix predicts will last through 2030.
For buyers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, checking local stock directly is advised, as US pricing does not translate to regional figures. The memory shortage is unlikely to ease soon, and Nvidia's next generation may not arrive until 2028, making current cards the only viable option for some time.
