Nvidia has confirmed its acquisition of Hugging Face for $12.9 billion in a move that could significantly shake up the AI landscape.

The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, marks Nvidia's largest acquisition to date and values Hugging Face at over $11.9 billion, more than double its earlier valuation of $4.5 billion in 2023.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem, allowing it to continue supporting open-source and open-weight models from across the industry.

The acquisition comes as Nvidia seeks to expand its presence in the AI market, with Huang stating that the company's infrastructure, engineering, and global reach will help improve Hugging Face's reliability, safety, and deployment capabilities.
