Nvidia Set to Overtake Apple in Buybacks and Dividends
Nvidia is poised to surpass Apple in stock buybacks and dividends, according to recent developments. On September 28, Nvidia authorized a $150 billion increase to its share repurchase program, bringing the total to $235 billion. This new program exceeds the additional authorization Apple announced on April 30, which was for $100 billion.
Nvidia's growth in buybacks and dividends is outpacing Apple's, with the former returning 60% of first-half fiscal 2027 free cash flow to shareholders. The company plans to increase this return going forward, as long as FCF remains high.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang reaffirmed this plan, stating that the authorization reflects 'our confidence in the long-term opportunity ahead.'
