Nvidia Sets Record with $150B Share Repurchase Plan
Nvidia has set a new record for share repurchases, authorizing a massive US$150 billion increase to its existing program. This brings the company's total remaining buyback capacity to an unprecedented US$235 billion, which it plans to execute through fiscal 2028.
This authorization surpasses Apple's US$110 billion approval in 2024 and exceeds the individual market capitalization of around 84 percent of companies listed on the S&P 500. Nvidia shares rose more than 2 percent following the announcement, despite trailing its semiconductor peers this year.
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang attributed the company's growth to a 'once-in-a-generation platform shift' to AI and accelerated computing, stating that their cash generation gives them the capacity to invest in advancing technologies and return capital to shareholders.
