Nvidia Sets Record with Massive Stock Buyback Authorization
Nvidia, the world's largest company by market value, has announced the largest stock buyback in history, authorizing $150 billion to be added to its existing program. The move lifts total authorization to $235 million through fiscal 2028, surpassing Apple's previous record of a $110 billion increase in 2024.
This is not Nvidia's first expansion of its buyback program. In fiscal 2023, the company executed about $10 billion in buybacks and later authorized a $25 billion increase by August 2024, followed by another $50 billion boost. CEO Jensen Huang stated that 'Our cash generation gives us the capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders.'
Nvidia's market cap now hovers near $5.5 trillion, comfortably ahead of Apple's $4.9 trillion.
