Nvidia Shield TV Pro Price Hikes to $299 Amid Industry-Wide Component Cost Increases

The Nvidia Shield TV Pro has seen a $100 price hike to $299.99, seven years after its initial launch in October 2015. The device remains one of the most capable Android TV streamers on the market, despite certain aspects not aging perfectly. A lack of AV1 support and other limitations are notable.

Nvidia attributed the price increase to the substantial rise in component costs across the industry, including memory. This move comes amidst a broader trend of streaming device price hikes due to rising RAM prices, also known as 'RAMageddon.'

The Shield TV Pro is not alone in this price adjustment; other streamers like Google TV Streamer and Apple TV 4K have seen similar increases earlier this year. Nvidia has confirmed continued software support for the Shield TV, ensuring users will continue to receive updates.
