Nvidia Snaps Up Hugging Face for Record-Breaking $13 Billion
Nvidia has announced its largest acquisition to date, purchasing open artificial intelligence platform Hugging Face for $12.93 billion.
The deal gives Nvidia direct access to a key distribution hub for AI models, used by over 18 million developers, researchers, and creators, as well as more than 200,000 companies worldwide.
Hugging Face hosts over 3 million AI models, 500,000 datasets, and around 1 million applications, putting Nvidia at the center of an ecosystem where developers discover, customize, test, and deploy artificial intelligence.
Nvidia's acquisition is seen as a strategic move to expand its influence in the AI stack, beyond its current dominance in AI chips. The company has been increasing its investment in open-weight models through its Nemotron family and other developer tools.
