Nvidia Stock Rises on Expectations for Double Chip Sales by 2027
Nvidia's stock price rose over 2% on September 17 after CEO Jensen Huang announced that chip sales are expected to double by 2027. During a recent AI executive conference in Scotland, Huang stated that Nvidia anticipates its 2027 chip sales will surpass those of 2026.
The company currently primarily sells the Blackwell and Blackwell Ultra platforms, as well as the next-generation Vera Rubin platform, which has entered full production. Vera Rubin is expected to contribute significantly to revenue in 2027, with Nvidia aiming for cumulative revenue from AI chips such as Blackwell and Rubin to reach at least $1 trillion by 2027.
Huang also discussed the importance of AI safety and opposed requiring industry-wide slowdowns in AI research and development. Instead, he emphasized that individual companies should take responsibility for product safety and manage risks through engineering and product mechanisms.
