Nvidia Stock Slumps Amid Geopolitical Tensions and AI Strategy Resistance
Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares are trading lower on Tuesday due to rising geopolitical tensions and a broader market reaction to news that President Trump has ruled out extending a temporary ceasefire agreement with Iran.
The company's AI strategy, which involves partnering with SB Energy to secure land, power, and building capacity at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, is also facing resistance. Under this plan, OpenAI will use the site under a 20-year lease for an initial deployment of 4.25 gigawatts of AI computing capacity using Nvidia GPUs, CPUs, networking and software.
Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated that 'AI is becoming infrastructure, the foundation for intelligence in every industry and land, power and shell have become vital in the age of AI.' The company estimates each generation deployed at the site could involve about 1.5 million Nvidia GPUs and translate into roughly $150 billion to $200 billion of revenue per generation.
