Nvidia Sued Over Alleged Use of Stolen Copyrighted Materials for AI Training
Nvidia's board of directors and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang are facing a lawsuit from a stockholder who claims they knowingly allowed the company to use stolen copyrighted materials for financial gain.
The investor, Jessica Berliner, alleges that Nvidia used pirated books, YouTube videos, and thousands of hours of human speech recordings to train its large language models without permission or compensation.
Nvidia's stock price skyrocketed from around $624 in January 2024 to $1,208 in June 2024 following a share repurchase program, but it has since fallen as the lawsuits pile up.
