Nvidia Surpasses Apple in Buybacks and Dividends as Cash Flow Continues to Grow
Nvidia is rapidly increasing its buybacks and dividends at a faster rate than Apple, making it a more attractive value for investors. The company's latest move includes authorizing an additional $150 billion to its share repurchase program, bringing the total to $235 billion. This increase surpasses Apple's own $100 billion authorization announced in April.
The growth of Nvidia's capital return program is significant compared to Apple's. In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Nvidia's buybacks and dividends combined were $10 billion. Over half of its free cash flow is being allocated towards these efforts, with a plan to increase the percentage returned to investors if more FCF is generated.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang reaffirmed this strategy in a recent press release: 'Our growth is being driven by a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing. Our cash generation gives us the capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders.'
