Nvidia Unleashes Largest Share Buyback in Market History with $235 Billion Plan
Nvidia, the tech giant behind many AI-powered chips, announced on Monday that it would expand its existing share buyback plan by $150 billion. This brings the total program to a staggering $235 billion, making it the largest buyback in market history.
This move surpasses Apple's previous record of authorizing $110 billion in 2024 for a buyback.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang explained that the company is benefiting from being at the center of the AI boom, which he described as 'the largest infrastructure build-out in human history.'
Huang stated that Nvidia will continue to generate significant cash flows and plans to return it to shareholders. He emphasized his commitment to returning cash to investors every year.
The company expects to complete the buyback by 2028's financial year, although a specific timeline has not been provided.
