Nvidia Unleashes Record-Breaking Share Repurchase Push
Nvidia, the leader in AI and accelerated computing, has significantly boosted its share repurchase program by $150 billion. This brings the total remaining buyback authorization to a record $235 billion.
This massive increase surpasses Apple's $110 billion buyback announced in May 2024, according to Reuters. It follows another major boost of $80 billion added just four months ago, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company's growth is driven by a 'once-in-a-generation platform shift' and that its cash generation gives it the capacity to invest in advancing this transformation. He also emphasized the importance of returning capital to shareholders, reflecting Nvidia's confidence in its long-term prospects.
The company has been expanding beyond chip sales and has accumulated significant stakes in 13 publicly traded firms and 229 private ones. It has also entered into long-term data center lease agreements worth around $20 billion to bolster the AI ecosystem.
