Nvidia Unveils $500 Billion AI Financing Plan with Wall Street Giants
Nvidia has secured agreements with six major Wall Street asset managers to create 'compute financing platforms' that will provide up to $500 billion in funding for AI companies to purchase chips and servers.
The deal, announced last week, allows Nvidia to raise institutional money, insurance funds, and private credit to support the growth of its customers.
This move reflects a growing pressure on tech giants to reduce their capital spending, which has increased by 77% year-over-year. Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta, and other hyperscalers have guided $720 billion to $745 billion in capital spending for 2026 alone.
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that GPUs are now being treated as long-lived infrastructure, similar to toll roads or power plants, which can be borrowed against for years. This reclassification is crucial to the deal's success, as it allows lenders to view chips as revenue-generating assets with stable value.
