The Play Disney Parks app is coming to an end after nearly nine years of existence. The free app, launched on June 30, 2018, was designed for guests to pass time while waiting in line for popular attractions at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

At its peak, the app featured a range of games, including augmented reality scavenger hunts, trivia challenges, and queue mini-games. However, it appears that the app has been slowly losing steam since 2022, when MagicBand+ devices were launched with new minigames via the Fab 50 Quest and Batuu Bounty Hunters.

According to reports, the Play Disney Parks app will be removed from app stores on September 16, 2026. This means that users will no longer be able to log in or access their achievements and saved progress. Some games, such as Batuu Bounty Hunters, will remain available but will not require the app.

Disney has not provided a reason for the app's retirement, but it is likely due to low usage rates. Despite its initial popularity, the app appears to have become a 'ghost town' with less than 2% of guests using it on any given day.
