Nvidia Unveils CUDA-Q Logical for Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing
Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) has expanded its CUDA-Q platform with a new orchestration layer designed for fault-tolerant quantum computing. The launch highlights the contrast between Jensen Huang's cautious view of the timeline for useful quantum computing and Nvidia's increasingly active role in developing the infrastructure needed to get there.
The company released CUDA-Q Logical, an open-source orchestration layer built into its CUDA-Q platform, on September 14. It is designed to help researchers develop applications for fault-tolerant quantum computers using logical qubits. The tool is available on GitHub and is already in use at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, IQM Quantum Computers, Sandia National Laboratories, Infleqtion, QCDesign, and Quantum Motion.
Timothy Costa highlighted the significance of this development: 'Quantum computing is maturing into an era of logical qubits, and researchers need an open, customizable platform capable of representing all aspects of a fault-tolerant system.'
